Yo Ho, Remembering We Shall Go...

Monday, March 31, 2008

If you stopped by yesterday, then you're probably still trying to scrub a particular image out of your head. But, in addition to that, you also know we'll be moving to our new ship tomorrow. It seems like only yesterday when the Captain pulled into port, standing atop the rigging, hair blowing in the wind, rum bottle in her hand, and ahoyed us crew members to come aboard the beautiful new (yet slightly used) ship she'd just commandeered.

We didn’t ask her where she commandeered it from as we didn't want to be accessories. And if you've hung out here for any period of time, you also know it's best never to question the Captain in anything. She really does hate it when you argue. Trust me, I know.

So, today is a day to remember the fantastic voyages we've taken aboard these decks, and to toast the adventures yet to come. This is where I would insert some snippets, excerpts and jokes from the brilliants blogs we've posted since October. However, the finishing touches on the new ship require tools from the old ship and work is being done as I type this (late Sunday night after driving ALL day – insert pity "pat on back" here).

Anywho, since I can't stroll through the posts or remember a damn thing, I'm going to ask you. What were some of your favorite topics covered here at Yo Ho, A Writer's Life For Me? And if that's too difficult (or lazy of me) then tell us what we haven't covered that you're just dying to talk about. Got any parody ideas for the Captain? Wanna start a petition for some of Sin or Lisa's smut? Want Marnee to post her chicken salad recipe or insist I start taking Gingko Biloba already?

Today, you have the floor….err…..deck!

I, for one, am always up for Lisa smut. I just wrote smut. Still have to write one more smut scene until I'm done for a while. Nothing to it. You just have to fake it. LOL

Hm. Favorite moments. Guest bloggers. We've had some really great ones on the ship. And you guys have had some really great blogs, thought provokers. Ones that make you get out there and dig deeper on your own writing to improve. This ship will be missed, but we'll make new and improved memories over at the new ship.

*touching the old wood railing fondly* I'm gonna miss you ship. We're gonna send you out to the ocean with all the other ships so you can have some fun. Okay pirate pal?

Yeah, you pirates set the bar pretty high. I'd have to say that collectively you are one of the best group blogs out there---serious but fun. And funny. Now can I have my grog?

And I vote for smut snippets. On your new site, you can hide them if you have to. :)

I know some of my favorite days have been the ones that we've had visiting pirate authors. It is always wonderful to get advice from those who have been there. :)

Yay for the new ship! It really is a sweet ride.

Maggie - thank you for the lovely comment. We are so glad that people enjoy our ramblings.

Terri Osburn said...

Good morning, ladies. So glad your fondest memories are of blogs NOT written by us pirates. LOL! But you're right, as usual. We have had some awesome guest bloggers. And never fear, we're bringing lots of great guests over to the new digs.

Maggie - you is so sweet. You get EXTRA grog today!

Marnee Bailey said...

Things that are written by us, huh? Fine fine... lemme think....

Honestly, I feel like a lot of our brilliance is found in the moments when we show a decided lack of brilliance. LOL! I think the moments I've had the most fun come from the moments we were being goofy. For me, writing can sometimes feel like a heavy weight. When I come here and talk about it, I can spend a few moments not taking myself TOO seriously. I like that. :)

Tiffany Clare said...

Ugh, it ate my post.

I don't know everything I wrote. I remember all the men especially the angel. sigh... I love mantitty.

Yay on the new digs!

Terri Osburn said...

Oh, the eye candy. Can't forget the eye candy. I'm happy to report all crew members will be making the transition to the new ship. We could never leave our boys behind. Never!

*sniff*

I'm going to miss riding on the top of me cannon on the deck of this ship. But I'm sure more great memories are to come!

I've loved it all, even though I can't always spend as much time here during the day as I like, I enjoy every minute.

I admire all of my blog partners, and what different writing styles they offer to the ship as a whole. I also appreciate Maggie, Tiff, Kelly, Janga, Irish, Geisha, and all the other readers and writers that stop by on a daily basis to make thought provoking comments.

I also feel awe inspired by the wonderful authors that have taken the time to blog with us.

I vote that that anyone but me writes smut:)I may do another rendition of what not to call anatomy when writing smut...

That is definitely one of the mottos on board the ship: No Hottie is forgottie.

Besides we needed all that muscle to move my books alone.

Sin, you almost made me cry. I feel like I'm getting ready to turn Old Faithful out to pasture.

Maggie, you're so sweet... We set the bar so high so we can keep the rum for ourselves. Get it? Bar, liquor? Hey, I can't be funny all the time.

So, I decided to look back and find some fun stuff. Here's one of my favorites, a brilliant (as usual!) post from our Captain...

Hey Pirates! I've loved being able to visit you here (though I mostly lurk). The new digs are spiffy and I can't wait to lurk there too!

It's so sad that I have no idea which one of those I might have written. I recognized one title. Which is because the title is the last thing I come up with and usually never think about it again. LOL!

This looking back thing is actually pretty cool. We are a brilliant lot! LOL! I knew we were good, but.....man.

This one is my favorite Jack Sparrow "Guest" blog (as in, written by Jack, not by one of our brilliant guest bloggers...I couldn't pick a favorite guest blogger. That'd be like picking favorite children or something.)

Terri Osburn said...

It is so nice when Jack takes the time to sound off for our benefit. And he's so wise. You'd never think it just look at him, would you?

Jack will also be tagging along on the move and since he and the Captain have nearly wrecked her current digs, we've been sure to make the new Captain's quarters a bit more durable.

Kelly Krysten said...

I've enjoyed a little bit of everything, even though I haven't been aboard for long. I know the pirates have been a huge inspiration for me, and thousands of words, that otherwise would have taken months, have only taken weeks for me to write thanks to you guys.
And smut is always good...

Janga said...

I can't pick one favorite blog, but I think the distingushing characteristics of this ship is the repartee. There is never a dull day. You pirates are consistently a lively bunch who nearly always make me laugh, sometimes make me think long thoughts, and on occasion even make me cry. Thanks for the trip so far and heart wishes for fair weather as you set sail in the new ship.

Sin said...

I rather enjoy the comments. Not only are the blogs good, but we have one helluva time in the comments.

I did rather love Jack Sparrow's blog. I enjoy Sunday blogs. But Hellion's Christmas blog was one of the best ever written. LOL

Terri Osburn said...

Janga - you make a great point. Our tangents are rather fun and always entertaining. But the light and wisdom you bring to us in your wonderful comments are something we could never do without.

Sin - Should we bring up the Uber-Alpha subject soon? LOL!

Sin said...

I'm always up for the UA subject. *grinning* But Jack is WAY too beta for me. Sorry Hellion.

We could ask Lisa to blog as Ranger. That would be awesome.

Terri Osburn said...

Ranger? Blogging? Oh, I'm not sure my heart could stand it. LOL! It's getting warm in here just thinking about that.

Sin said...

Exactly. And there isn't anyone who does Ranger better (other than JE) than Lisa.

Hellie Sinclair said...

Ooh, I'd love to have Ranger come and blog for a day!!!!

And Jack is more gamma. He's not pure Alpha (not nearly broody enough); he's too secretive to be Beta (too many other agenda.)--but he can play both sides of the fence if it'll get his ship back.

He also accessorizes too much for a strict Alpha.

Marnee Bailey said...

Accessories: an alpha man's kryptonite.

Lisa said...

Me blog Ranger? *g* Sin, you flatter me Babe.

And thanks Hellion for mentioning my "From the Eyes of a Romance Novel" blog. I had so much fun writing that one.

I totally agree, we have shared some great blogs here at the ship. *sniff, dramatically swooning on deck*

Terri Osburn said...

Someone throw some rum on Scarlet over here. LOL!

Marnee Bailey said...

*waving the smelling salts under Lissa's nose, helping her to her feet and handing her a bottle of rum.*

Such drama on this boat.

Wait... We will be taking the crewmembers won't we? *Panicking, swooning into the spot Lissa just vacated.*

Terri Osburn said...

Marnee, babe, nice to know you read my comments. *droll look*

I will reiterate. We WILL be taking ALL crew members with us. Yes, even Guido. If we didn't bring him, where would we keep the bananas?!

Hellie Sinclair said...

Or the schnauzer....

Marnee Bailey said...

*sheepish shrug* Just needed to be absolutely certain, mate.

Terri Osburn said...

About that schnauzer, we should probably let him out for air sometime soon, huh?

Marn - S'alright. Good to know ye have yer priorities in line.

Lisa said...

*cheeky grin*

I knew I could I manage getting more than my rum portion for the day.

Marnee Bailey said...

PS. Who's packing our chocolate?

*crickets*

*Gunner, mumbling under her breath* all right, all right, I'll do it....

Hellie Sinclair said...

What? You mean, we're not getting NEW chocolate on the ship? I ate ALL MY RATIONS OF CHOCOLATE FOR NOTHING? These pants are ready to split like a can of biscuits!

BLAST! If I'd known we were MOVING the chocolate, I wouldn't have eaten all of my shares.

And Marnee's shares.

And Lisa's.

Marnee Bailey said...

Blast it! Who left the captain alone with our chocolate stores?!

Our next crewmember best be a bodyguard for the chocolate.

Terri Osburn said...

Oh, how about a bodyguard *covered* in chocolate? That would be AWESOME!

And I picked up some chocolate on clearance after Easter. Relax, you'll have plenty.

Sheesh - You'd think we'd thrown out the rum!

Marnee Bailey said...

I think taking the rum was a foregone conclusion.

It is a foregone conclusion, isn't it!??!

*Swooning on the deck again.*

Terri Osburn said...

Y'all are the biggest drama queen pirates I have ever seen. LOL! Now stop snapping the poppy paper and lock up the trunks. Two men and a cargo boat will be hauling this stuff off any minute.

Anything that doesn't make it in the moving boat, you have to get over there yourself.

Marnee Bailey said...

Burly men?

Terri Osburn said...

Very burly. But just to make the Captain happy, I requested at least one of them have a neck.

Y'all need to supervise the packing for a while. I have a little something I need to do. But I'll be back later and I better not find y'all passed out on the deck and my moving guys ravished.

Got it?!

Hellie Sinclair said...

I'll be too busy nibbling on Jack's (and Will's) necks to pay attention to who's rowing the boat. *snapping her cat-o-nines at a pair of burly men who are bringing up her lingerie trunks* Careful with that! I don't want my reds getting tangled up with my blacks! Oy, what a mess that would be!

irisheyes said...

Moving, how fun! Especially when I'm not the one doing it! It sounds to me, though, like you guys could probably sell tickets for your move. Watching all those big strong men lifting, hefting, and flexing sounds very entertaining.

I can't think of a favorite but there've been some real classics. I too have to admit to being fond of the tangents. You never really know what's gonna come up in the course of a discussion. I think that the discussions aboard this ship being so interesting and thought provoking, not just about writing, but life in general speaks to the talent of this crew. You should be very proud of your sailing mates, Captain!

I look forward to more wit, wisdom and insights aboard the new ship. Here's to smooth sailing ahead!!! *Irish raising her glass of rum (with something fruity added to cut down on the bite!)*

Marnee Bailey said...

Here, here, Irish! *sipping along with you*

Sin said...

*hiding chocolate*

*sneaking behind the shirtless men*

Hide me, sweetie pie. Hellion's out to get my chocolate and I like chocolate with my rum.

Hellie Sinclair said...

I'm extremely proud of mates--they're the coolest crew around. (Of course, they take far too much delight in one-upping me at every turn, stealing my blog ideas and making them a thousand times better than I would have done, and being far too cheeky...)

I'm just glad they were all willing to move with me to the other ship.

Terri Osburn said...

So happy to see things didn't totally fall apart while I was gone. Though the violence over undies might be a bit much.

It does look strange around here all empty, just that one cannon ball forgotten in the corner. Lisa is going to have to come back for that.

Thank you everyone for playing along today. And we hope you'll join us over at www.romancewritersrevenge.com tomorrow when the Captain breaks in the new ship just right!

Alas
I am late to the part as usual
Say-La-Vee
I have to agree with Maggie Robinson…
You pirates do set the bar pretty high.
I can’t pick a favorite topic. All I know is that the thing that I loved about this site was that I never knew what you Pirates were gonna blog about. One day Mshellion asked “what have you given up for Lent?” And the next Sin, would ask “how many Men are too many men?!
If I was anywhere else but Here I’d say “These are trick questions aren’t they?” Because Damn, I’m damned if I do and damned if I don’t. Or is that damned if I don’t … since I’m supposed to give something up for Lent…. And damned if I do cuz I’m fairly sure the parish priest would disapprove of my having three lovers?
Which reminds me… I vote for smut is good too.
Well… Its time to say goodbye, isn’t it?
Sigh…
Farewell to thy Olde Ship
Good sailing with thee new
And if yea shall pass through this port of mine
Call me up, and we’ll share a drink or’ two… or three … or…

Bon Voyage Pirates

Good Luck! And don’t ever hesitate to…
